Hi Ky,
Happy November 1st! I can't believe it's already November. Yesterday was such a beautiful fall day for Halloween, and it was also Tanner's birthday. Dad and I worked hard outside as the leaves were falling.
Later, Dad, Mary, and I went to the outlet malls to walk around and do some shopping. Every time I'm there, it reminds me of you working at Under Armour. It brought back fond memories of meeting you at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory during your breaks to get a treat and catch up.
I couldn't sleep last night, so I was thinking about my "word of the year" for 2027. Each year, I select a word to focus my daily life, prayers, and scripture study around. For 2026, my word was "abide." I built a music playlist around it for my daily commute, which brought me so much comfort and helped me feel closer to Jesus. Interestingly, right after I chose "abide" last year, the 2026 LDS youth theme was announced about abiding with Christ. It was such a great confirmation, and focusing on it this past year—waking up at 5:00 AM to pray and study—has really helped me abide with Him more.
As I was praying last night about what my word for 2027 should be, the word "rejoice" kept coming to mind. I decided to check online to see if the 2027 LDS youth theme had been announced yet, and low and behold, the new theme is based on the scripture in Philippians about rejoicing in Christ!

Philippians 4:4 – "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice."
For the remaining two months of 2026, I will continue focusing on abiding with Christ. I've been listening to a song called "More Jesus," which reminds me of Elder Andersen's recent talk at Stake Conference about how we can always do just a little bit more to strengthen our spirituality. If you have time in your studies I would recommend this talk:

Dad and I also worked in the temple again on Friday night, and we get to go back this coming Friday. Serving there has been another wonderful way to abide with Christ and focus on our covenants. Keeping those covenants really makes all the difference—it brings so much joy to family life, marriage, and parenting. It isn't always the easiest path, but with Jesus Christ as our guide, it is the best path.
I love you with all my heart and look forward to talking to you tomorrow. Happy Sabbath!
Love,
Mom
Happy November, Elder Milne!
I can't believe how quickly the year has gone and that 2027 is already approaching. Looking back on my own mission, some days felt long, but the two years flew by. Be sure to treasure these days—they will be over before you know it!
We had a very low-key Halloween last night. We watched a movie in the basement with the lights off upstairs to dissuade trick-or-treaters. It made things much easier for Ollie, who didn't spend the evening barking at the door.
On Friday night, we worked our shift at the temple. The more I serve there, the more I love it. The peace and joy found in the Lord’s house simply can't be matched. The only other thing this week that came close to that feeling was seeing a sunrise from our house.
God is AMAZING! Mornings like that remind me how lucky we are to have this earthly experience. Life is a lot like a mission—some days seem long, but even the longest lives go by so quickly in the grand scheme of things. Thankfully, we have beautiful things like sunrises and temples to remind us of the bigger picture, all thanks to the Savior.
We love you so much and are so proud of your efforts to share the gospel in Brazil. Safe travels as you head to the mission home tomorrow!
Love,
Dad
